Painting Tip 1 Supplies
Remember you want to start out with a thick oil paint a thin oil paint will not work because we thin the paint down as we go thin over thick. Painting with the same consistency will cause a muddy mess. I have had questions what brand of paint to use here is the brand I use Lukas Studio Oils they are priced great, and have a great consistency and are professional grade. if you would like to know a excellent place to shop for supplies email me at michael@tvpainter.com . Ok now it is time to move on the next thing I would like to discuss is most errors occur from not loading the brush properly or not using enough paint or both. Remember you can not paint without paint on your brush.. always pay close attention to your instructor on how they are loading the brush I see this allot in classes I teach I try to stress how important it is. If it is not loaded the right way it will not perform the right way. one more thing I have found that the best brushes to use for this technique "wet on wet oil painting" is a natural chinese bristle brush. The hair is a little stiffer than synthetic hair that stiffness helps when loading the thick paint..well I said that was the last one but here is one good tip what type of thinner do I use? I use Turpenoid or most of the time I use Gemini odorless thinner you can get it at Hobby Lobby here in the states. Here is how to get the price on it use this link Click Here each week they have a printable coupon most of the time it is %40 off coupon. if it is not just check back the next week sooner or later they will have it. The Gemini thinner runs about $15.00 a gallon use the %40 off coupon and wow ! Look at the savings, that is what I do, you can use that on anything that IS NOT ON SALE that week. Do not use thinner from hardware stores or walmart etc... these thinners say they are odorless but still have a strong odor. Use thinners that are artist grade.

Painting Tip 2 Thinner
I forgot to mention something very important to remember always keep the lid on your paint thinner never leave it off while you are painting unless it is AP nontoxic .It is still vapor harmful no matter how odorless it is. here is how to check look on the container it will say vapor harmful or AP meaning non toxic. If it says vapor harmful please keep the lid on your thinner or you will become a real happy painter..:-) now moving on to the next painting tip
Painting Tip 3 Using the Liner Brush
when using the liner brush click here your paint needs to be thin like ink a water consistency let,s say you rare going to paint some tree limbs you can use paint thinner or you can use a thinning medium I use linseed oil a few drops at a time to the paint thins it down I prefer using oil over paint thinner because it keeps the oil in the paint, thinner takes oil out of the paint but if that is all you have then use it. one of the best ways to load the liner brush when doing tree limbs is to twist the brush in the paint it loads allot in the bristles and brings it to a point.Do not forget the most important part of your painting uses this brush the signature.
